6 apartments for people with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties and supporting staff facilities in East Bristol.
Forming part of a wider redevelopment of a brownfield site, 6 apartments for people with PMLD (profound and multiple learning difficulties) will be created.
Located on the Eastern edge of Bristol, the scheme looks to create homes for people with PMLD to live more independently, supported by staff.
The development will see 6 bungalows and staff accommodation arranged as two single storey buildings on the site. The internal design of the apartments has been carefully developed to create attractive and safe living environments for residents and staff, with anti-ligature products specified, long sight lines and alternative routes from spaces included. Robust, anti-ligature sanitaryware which can be maintained from external service cupboards minimises the need for maintenance staff to enter residents’ homes.
Externally, all bungalows will benefit from private rear gardens. Landscaping across the site ensures that privacy into each bungalow in maintained and rear access pathways creates alternative routes for staff to use in the case of an escalation event.
Use of air source heat pumps and solar panels looks to create a sustainable heating approach for the scheme.
