Malden House, Sidmouth
Alterations and extension to Malden House, an established care home in Sidmouth, to provide 11 new high quality care bedrooms to increase the capacity at this popular home.
The extension forms a second wing and creates new accommodation and a sheltered courtyard space. An existing small extension containing 2 bedrooms is demolished, resulting in a total of 28 bedrooms, and an overall gain of 9 bedrooms.
The new wing houses 11 en-suite bedrooms, 2 resident lounges and supporting facilities, including an enlarged and improved kitchen. 8 of the en-suite bedrooms will look out onto the rear garden space and new courtyard, directly accessed by the ground floor bedrooms. All of the bedrooms have views out on to mature gardens or planting.
The extension provides much-needed additional care provision to serve the local community.
Installing air source heat pumps and solar panels improves the sustainability of the building, which is constructed using a SIPS panel system.
