NOMA Staff Away Day 2016

Friday 19 August saw the minibus arrive at NOMA Towers to take the staff on the annual Away Day.  This year we went north to Birmingham.  After a canal boat tour (Birmingham has more miles of canals than Venice), we visited the new Library, including the spectacular roof garden and reconstructed “Shakespeare Room”, a large investment in civic pride.

We went to the unique Karczma restaurant for lunch, followed by a tour of the new University buildings and Science centre, then on to Selfridges, still unique after ten years, and finally to the NEW New Street station, a spectacular investment in rail.

On the way back we called in at the new ‘local’ Organic service station on the M5 in Gloucestershire, which is an architectural gem and deservedly becoming a destination in its own right.  As a building it clearly demonstrates an ecological approach to design in a natural setting.

The Away Day provided a fitting end to Tom’s year with NOMA and a suitably educational and inspirational day out for our NOMA staff.
